Midnite
Train is one
of Orange
County's
leading
classic rock
bands, formed in
2002 by John
Sahm, Glenn
Dolin and
Rock Garcia.
As members
of the Santa
Ana Fire
Department,
SWAT Team
and CDA,
they all
discovered
they had
similar
hobbies,
making
music. As
former
musicians of
the 80’s
Hollywood
hair metal
scene and
Orange
County’s
early punk
movement,
they all
settled down
and playing
live had
become a
thing of the
past.
They decided
to give it a
go as a
three-piece
classic rock
band
learning
songs by
artists
ranging from
Aerosmith to
ZZ Top.
Subsequently,
they were
offered an
opportunity
to play the
city’s 2002
Police &
Fire Games.
They quickly
recruited
bassist, and
fireman,
Mike X and
began
intense
rehearsals.
The show, at
the Galaxy
Theater in
Santa Ana,
was a
complete
success and
gave the
band a taste
of what it
was like to
play in
front of a
live
audience
again. They
continued
building
their
repertoire
of classic
rock
favorites.
Mike was
eventually
replaced by
another city
employee,
Bruce Perret.
Along with
his vocal
abilities,
Bruce
brought a
younger
dynamic to
the band.
His K-ROQ
influences
fit in well
as they
became
regulars at
Dennis
Rodman’s
restaurant,
Josh
Slocum’s, in
Newport
Beach.
